Central Maryland Chamber of Commerce Announces Kristi Simon as Next President and CEO

Odenton, MD. – The Central Maryland Chamber of Commerce announced today that Kristi Simon will serve as the Chamber’s next President and CEO, effective April 20, 2020.

Ms. Simon has significant experience in leading private business, nonprofit and chamber organizations, currently serving as Director of Operations at Community Action Council of Howard County. Ms. Simon brings to the Central Maryland Chamber diverse experience leading regionally-focused business organizations, guiding financial and brand transformations, and successfully advocating for business in local and state arenas.

After managing her own small business and volunteering for the Howard County Chamber of Commerce for several years, she accepted the position of Legislative Affairs Coordinator in 2010. She subsequently over the next 8 years progressively assumed higher level leadership rolls such as Director of Events and Vice President.

The selection of Ms. Simon as the Chamber’s next President and CEO comes after an exhaustive 6 month, national search facilitated by the Chamber Board and Search Committee, chaired by Sonja Gladwin, Board Chair.

"After a comprehensive search process, we are pleased to have identified the best individual to lead the Chamber into its next chapter of growth, innovation, and member service," said Sonja Gladwin, Board Chair, Central Maryland Chamber. “We believe success for Chamber members, businesses in Baltimore/Washington corridor and businesses across greater Maryland, comes from regionally-focused collaboration. Kristi’s exceptional background and experience leading diverse organizations makes her uniquely positioned to represent the Chamber membership and the regional business community to realize this success. We are pleased to welcome Kristi and are confident that her leadership, proven track record, and vision for the central Maryland business community will complement the Chamber’s exceptional membership, Board of Directors, and staff.”

“As the Voice of Business in Central Maryland, the Central Maryland Chamber of Commerce has an outstanding reputation serving Maryland’s robust business community in our region and beyond,” said Kristi Simon, incoming Central Maryland Chamber President and CEO. “I am very excited to work with Chamber members, leadership, key stakeholders, and regional partners to build upon the Chamber’s reputation as the preeminent membership organization for business. This is an exciting time for central Maryland, and the Chamber is well positioned to develop new and exciting opportunities for businesses from across our region to engage, interact, and lead.“
